A to Z: Goblins

Small, crafty, devious and wacky good fun.

Goblins are always a good time, in skirmish games, as countless hordes in army-sized games, as your first humanoid threat in an RPG, but nothing more fun than in Blood Bowl.

This is a team I finished not too long ago for a great guy from England.
I can't begin to tell you what kind of gamer-envy I have when I talk to clients in the U.K.
I love that I get to 'meet' so many people from so many countries being a brushslinger.

He wanted a team of goblins done 'bright and clashy' in orange & ice blue: seems to suit their personalities to me!

I can tell you this loud & tacky color scheme was a challenge, but a great deal of fun.

All of the miniatures other than the River Troll (which is GW) are from Neomics.
These are easily my favorite blood bowl goblins. So much character! A full team of goblins, with special weapons, and every goblin is a unique pose & clearly has his own personality.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Super Goblin. Boy does he ever think he's the star of the show.  He's fully expecting to get the MVP!

Better roll a 12 for his first skill, this guy's ready for his Strength 3!

Treeman? Lemme at em!

Kicker! He thinks he has the kick skill.. he'll place that shoe right where you wanted the ball to go. But the ball... ?

Oh just score already so this one can get to the privy!

Spring shoes.. sprung from the mind of a goblin.  Love it.

The muscle: Stone Troll & River Troll.

A Goblin team is fun! It has many advantages:

- Cheap players so you can load up on Secret Weapons & the bribes to keep them on the field.
- Two trolls: high strength, regeneration, low cost big guys.
- Throwing a goblin for a TD, or when needed, throw a goblin as a weapon.. makes a great cage breaker!

Goblins are also great in other teams:
You can have one in a Chaos Pact team (seems they're very popular now)
You can have a few in Orc teams.  I always take a goblin or two on an Orc team!  Usually named 'Stikka'.

-Goblins on non-goblin teams are the perfect player to foul with: dodge in with stunty and foul away.. get ejected? OK, you're only down a goblin.  Plus both those teams can take players with the 'Throw Team Mate' skill, which is great for you, and even if you don't use it, your opponent must commit a player or two to the backfield to guard against that possibility!

I had a lot of fun painting this team, and when I get around to painting my Underworld team I'm going to shoot for a bright & tacky color scheme as well!  I'm thinking Rasberry & Teal...

  1. Very nice Blood Bowl team! I recently rediscovered Blood Bowl and I've just started painting a human team.

  4. Thank you! I was happy with the team.. sometimes painful to put them in a box & send them out to their owners & not want to keep them all ;)
