Bronze Boars: Orc Tribal Heritage Team of the Badlands

Blood Bowl is a game played in every far-flung corner of the world, not just the crowded urban centers of Altdorf & Middenheim, but even from the rain-soaked forest outpost of skinks in Sea A'tal  in northern coastal Nagaroth to the remote badland tribe of Orcs.

These Badland Orcs have played a version of Blood Bowl longer than Imperial cities have used stone.
Badland Orcs don't have a lot of the newer materials and styles of equipment. Their team, The Bronze Boars, still use the bronze armor of their ancestors, and don't go in for bright elfy colors.  The team is made up of the best players from the tribe, which is a fully integrated tribe in proper greenskin tradition: Orcs & Black Orcs, Trolls, Goblins & Snotlings,  though it has been many seasons since any snotling was weighed of any worth for a team. The Badland Orcs even seem to look a bit different than most orc teams these days, which the Bronze Boars chalk up to their isolation and inbreeding: vital conditions for the sought-after pure breed characteristics such as gangly arm and goofy jaw.

This year the Bronze Boars are traveling out of their local area to the Ancient Temple city of the Slann, Las Vay'Ghis, with many sites of worship dedicated to the gods of luck and trickery, as well as to Pahl E'es Star, the god of questionable taste and fashion.  Players are still being selected for the starting team line up and competition is fierce.

So let's take a look at the team:

(Click for larger)

A well rounded team, the coach will have his pick for the 11 starting players.  The coach has been missing for awhile, presumed to be on a fungal-brew bender, as any responsible coach will do before a big competition.  But the team looks ready!

Not to be left out, second-string player Orcvis has had a vision that his peculiar talents will be required in this road trip match, so he's vowed not to be left behind.

Less than a week to go, and the Bronze Boars will hit the pitch in Las Vay'Ghis!

The Bronze Boars now join the ranks in the Hall of Fame, tab at the top of the blog.

They were my entry for Round One of the LPL6 at Lead Adventurer Forum.

Now that the round is over, I can show them here.
I won my first pairing, have my doubts about the next as GW minis have a bit harder time of it there, and my Round Two are converted from GW parts, but we'll see.

If you aren't a member of the LAF then sign up! For 10 weeks the LPL will be running, and there are many great and creative entries by talented hobbyists: lots of unusual stuff to see!

I've wanted to paint a 2nd edition Orc team for a long time- I just love the sculpts.

Re: LAF: yeah, it is daunting. But I figure I have more than 10 projects I'd like to get to, so a little on each will help out... if I can manage it.
