Work continues on the Genestealer Cult.. here's a tidbit to share... a character: could be a commander, psyker, atsropath.. just about anything the army might need, he could fill those shoes.. with his slimy tentacles.
He's also a bit top heavy, so the underneath of the base is filled with left-over white metal: makes good ballast : all those clippings from removing metal sprue, slotta tabs, and integrated bases comes in handy!
More to come...
A Bathalian Drone from Reaper.
I love this sculpt- very alien & creepy. Done up in the army's colors, he's a good fit I think with the rest.
I couldn't get him on one of the sculpted microart bases, not the way he's sculpted, so I texturized a standard base and sculpted some nodules and little tentacles to match the style.
More to come...
That has to be the scariest sculpt I´ve seen. Imagine if it came alive..even at the size it is it would be a bit.."get it away from my soft body parts!!"
ReplyDeleteGreat brushwork.
Cheers

Cracking paint job and I never realised how big this guy was until I saw him in his blister pack
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that is superb! What a piece of outstanding work.
ReplyDeleteOh yes indeed! Very Cthulhu-esque and once again fantastic in that pink/red scheme. I would never have tried that combo but it looks superb. Would you mind sharing the secret of your colour mixes for the fleshy areas?
ReplyDeleteWonderfully disgusting if I may put it like that!? Strong Cthulhu theme there.
ReplyDeleteSweet Jesus! Great work!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really cool sculpt and I really like how you painted it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks all for the very kind remarks!
ReplyDeletePaul: Yeah, if I saw him moving around, even at that size I'd be leaving the house, one cat under each arm!
Brummie: yeah, first one I bought I was surprised it was so big, but happily so.
Paul: skin.. I start with a mix of the older GW foundation red & dhenab stone, then layer up adding more d.stone & reaper ivory, then wash with a glaze made with the red, more highlights with more ivory added. on tentacles, will add some white to the mix for final highlights.
That's ...beautiful...?!
ReplyDeleteSuperlatives are hard with such a creepy subject matter. I love the pink tones it seems like a shade which could occur in the real world.
