Room For One More: Fanticide Kickstarter

I am a bit worried that all of the amazing Kickstarters that have and continue to come out will start to jam each other in the doorway to our wallets. But I suppose it's like anything, it's something offered, and decide if it's something you want enough to trade money for. I couldn't resist some: D-Day Dice, Apes of Wrath (Blood Bowl Apes), Mantic Kings of War, The Banner Saga (a Norse/Viking setting computer game), and the Stonehaven Dwarves, and I'm considering Low Life and Dreadball.

But today I heard the voice: "Room for one more"

Call me crazy, but o.k., sign me up.

I am committed for: Fanticide.

The game has a good pedigree and I really like the motivation and mission:

- Skirmish gaming: not a ton of minis
- Rules not overly complicated, but a lot of options
- Card assisted play for activation & other effects: not a too-easy-to-predict standard igougo.
- Supports self-built warbands: construct your own concept of creatures for your warband if you wish.
- Follows on that of course: can use any minis you'd like.

The first four warbands they've come up with and definitely non-standard and quirky.  That's a good sign.

I also like the sound of the background of the world they developed, but what I like most is it sounds easy to use it for any setting you like or create, with any creatures you'd like to support.

I went in on the cheap, just the $45 pledge level, since I have -well I don't really know just how many minis I have- but a lot. And this looks like a good way to get double duty from some, and get some use for some of the odder minis too.  I have a whole bunch of Otherworld Kobolds that might be perfect for this!

They have some pretty good rewards with warbands from Eureka minis, including the monkeys I used for my Ape team's sideline band, so if you're looking to pick up some more odd minis, it's a good way, and if you're just looking for a skirmish game that's friendly for whatever you have already, seems good for that too

The $45 will get me the hardback color rulebook, the deck of cards, and 9 minis: 2 from each of their warbands plus the Unicorn. -the Unicorn in this world is apparently not at all like the one in Legend...
Seems like quite a good deal for just $45, and won't prevent me from possibly adding in Low Life, or Dreadball, or both...

But only 58 hours left to go until it ends: Tues. Sept 11, 13:52 EDT,so don't be caught sleeping...

I just spent the last of my birthday "Mountain of Lead" money yesterday, but I want in and this is how it's going down.

The Hubby is asleep. After I take the dog out for a pee, I'm going to nick the debit card and get myself some flying monkey's. Gotta have 'em dude.

Thanks for helping me feed my addiction Ferret!

He woke up just as I came through the door with the dog. I'll wait till tonight or until he takes a nap this afternoon. There's still time for me to make the deal. I'll be stealthy as a ninja and nab that card!

I really should start reading up how that whole kickstarter thing seems to work, lots of `might be cools` popping up lately

Kickstarter is the new Ebay and Amazon craze (or disease depending on your POV). There is tons of stuff I want to invest in but with bills and a cruise in the near future along with our wedding annv and my wife's birthday along with the holidays I am looking at a cash shutdown....

It's definitely got potential, one of the reasons I gave it a plug!

He took a nap and I'm in!

You're a sneaky monkey Anne! Those monkeys should feel right at home with you.

Tomsche: there's a flood of stuff. Kickstarter is pretty easy, and works through Amazon.com.

Styx: I can relate- I've had to pass on many that I thought were either too pricey or I wouldn't get a whole lot of use or time from, even if they did look good.

Fran, maybe if you get it, Ray will make a Magic Mouse army!

That Unicorn reminds me of the old Amazon list where they could take one as their Big Guy!

I just added on a Flying Gorilla!!

Paul: yes it does, if they still allowed them on the field, this would be a great mini for him!

Anne: oh, tempting :) I just got a whole big army of goblins not long ago, so trying not to be too tempted- but I sent them a question about the add-ons, since the monkey-shootist blister doesn't say if it is bows or blunderbuss- but I'd really like the rifles option if possible- they'd be great for my Belgian Liberation Army... Belgian Monkey Zouaves!

Very interesting, but had to pass. Not enough that I could see myself using in the near or even distant future.

Agreed on the point that Kickstarter is the new Black for spending cash on hobby related items. Am already in the hole quite a bit over the past few months here, and I fear it be but the tip of the iceberg.. great for the hobby community, but not so great for my bank account though. :)
