Mithril Miniatures: Sanctuary at the Bombadil Residence

Another of the more rare Mithril Miniatures scenes:

Frodo & Sam introduced to Goldberry by Tom Bombadil in his home.

I went for a classic Tomb Bombadil, for colors (though decided when he labels his own boots 'yellow' that he more than likely means a yellowish leather.. I can't imagine yellow felt being very practical in undomesticated forest even for an anthropomorphic personification spirit), and decided that the colors of the home should reflect Goldberry's preference for water lilies.

Hey! Come derry dol! Hop along, my hearties!
Hobbits! Ponies all! We are fond of parties.
Now let the fun begin! Let us sing together!

Now let the song begin! Let us sing together
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather,
Light on the budding leaf, dew on the feather,

Wind on the open hill, bells on the heather,
Reeds by the shady pool, lilies on the water:
Old Tom Bombadil and the River-daughter!

O slender as a willow-wand! O clearer than clear water!
O reed by the living pool! Fair River-daughter!
O spring-time and summer-time, and spring again after!
O wind on the waterfall, and the leaves' laughter!

Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow;
Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.

Lovely painting. The most enigmatic character in LotR..and my favourite. I was gutted he didn´t turn up in the film, probably left out as a lot of People would have said "why doesn´t he just go a get rid of the ring?"

Beautiful painting work !
I Love this vignette that I've painted too... but not so good like yours !
(if you want to see it, it's on my blog:

I totally agree with Paul: it's a pity that this character don't appear on the movies... but we all know why, no ?

Thats an amazing look diorama. The floor and bowls full of water lilies set the seen nicely. It needs some bathtubs with four dirty hobbits as well as a few songs.

Thanks guys :)

Nice job on yours Sam, it's a fun piece to paint isn't it?

Tom Bombadil is an interesting character, but I don't think the movie had the time, or the general audience likely had the patience to understand Tom or what he is. And since Tom never explains what he is to the hobbits, it'd be pretty hard to explain it to the audience.

But it brings up a point about all that was left out.. if the Hobbit is getting 3 movies, but the whole of the Lord of the Rings got just 3 movies, shouldn't they redo Lord of the Rings as a 9 movie set?

Thanks for the compliment...
You're right about the difficulties for Tom in the movies... but there are so much things which P.J. has "forgotten" or change that I can't believe that it's only because Tom is Tom Bombadil !
I hope that P.J. never do 9 movies of LoTR !! He will be able to add, miss, change etc... too much things !
You know what I'm thinking of him ?
He's a bad director, unable to understand what is a good movie!
I hate what he has done with The Hobbit : it's like he was thinking that people are imbeciles just able to see Fx scenes, beautiful elves and women, listen poor dialogues and give their money !
(sorry, but I'm so depicted with the new trilogy .... )

Always one of my favourite encounters in the story and like Paul, I was sorry to see that it was glossed over.
